Over the summer we had the privilege of Hosting Jamaica house, where we enjoyed some of our busiest months that we’ve seen in a long time. We even played host to some of the athletes we have all been in awe of during the Commonwealth Games from Team Scotland and Team Jamaica.
We worked with with huge brands to deliver unbeatable events including Mark Wright launching Heart FM with an exclusive DJ set, Heineken took over one of the bars rebranding it as ‘Heineken House’ during the Commonwealth Games and Moët chose the roof terrace as its only Scottish flagship venue for the world’s first Champagne on Ice, Moët Ice Imperial.
We encouraged our members an visitors to get ‘all right’ as 29 was transformed into ‘Jamaica House’ over the Commonwealth Games. Through the course of the games we hosted some fantastic opening and closing parties with the crème de la crème of the Jamaican sporting scene and royalty including Prince Albert of Monaco.
Our aim for ‘Jamaica House 2014’ was to bring a taste of the island’s culture to Glasgow, even if it was only for 11 days. We revamped our menu to pay tribute to the jamaican’s famous cuisine, with over 1000 dishes of jerk chicken being served and double that number of Appleton Rum cocktails.
The games may be over, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have more exciting things happening at 29 Glasgow. Now we have our Spirit of Summer event in partnership with Rekorderlig kicking off, and much more to come for the remainder of the year.
Michelle Mooney, 29 Events Manager, said: “All eyes have been on Glasgow this summer and 29 has partnered with some of the most influential brands in the world to celebrate. We’ve served royalty, had Levi Roots barbeque on the roof terrace and been home to ‘Jamaica House 2014’ witnessing many a team Jamaica Dance off over the Commonwealth Games. It’s been a huge amount of fun and we hope our visitors have enjoyed experiencing some once in a lifetime events at 29 Glasgow.”
